A Hebrew school collective in West Marin

Welcome to the Valley Hebrew School Collective! We are a community of San Geronimo Valley families coming together to create a warm, joyful, and meaningful space for children to explore Jewish holidays, traditions, music, stories, and culture. Our gatherings are designed for children ages 4–9 and their families, with opportunities for families to share their own gifts, interests, and experiences.

Why we’re doing this

We believe Jewish traditions come alive for our children when shared in community.

Parent-led

Born from a handful of valley families operating together to create a space to inspire curiosity and a deeper knowledge of our Jewish ancestry.

Rooted in this place

Sukkot under live oaks. Tashlich in Lagunitas Creek. Tu BiShvat when the hills are green. Our calendar follows nature's cue and the valley's seasons.

Every kind of family

Interfaith, unaffiliated, converting, secular, deeply observant, or just curious.

A rhythm that fits real life

One Friday afternoon a month plus a handful of family holiday gatherings. We want our children to be excited to go to Hebrew school.

What a gathering looks like

  1. Gather and snack

Kids arrive, eat something and land.

  2. Hebrew in small groups

Letters and sounds for the little ones, prayerbook reading and vocabulary for the older kids.

  3. Story and question

One text and one big question, paired with a fun craft.

  4. Lighting the candles

We will close with candles, grape juice and challah for Shabbat.
